Max Born was born into a Jewish family and a patriot of Judaism. His father, Gustav, was discriminated because of his religion. He could not gain power in the university he researched in because he was a Jew. (Bernstein, Jeremy. "Max Born and the Quantum Theory." N.p., 29 July2005. Web. 28 Feb. 2014.) (pg 13).
This caused him to convert to Lutheranism. Young Max remained Jewish. During the time of World War II he and his family were forced to take refuge in Cambridge, England. (Max. "Recollections of Max Born: II. What I did as a Physicist." (1965): n.pag. Web. 22 Feb. 2014.)(pg 3)
